Abstract
The author reviewed the results of Rifampicin treatment to 35 pulmonary tuberculosis cases during last one year from 1970-12 to 1971-12 at an out-patient clinic. 32 cases were chronic retreatment patients and only 3 cases were primary treatment patients. The dose of Rifampicin was 600mg daily one hour before breakfast at once. It was given daily in the first 3 months and then changed to every other daily. The duration of the medication was 5 to 12 months. For the retreatment cases only 300mg of INH once daily one hour after the super was combined because they used up already all other drugs but for the primary treatment groups SM. PAS also combined together with INH. ① The sputum conversion Rate was 73% in retreatment cases. ② However there was no remarkable X -ray ipmrovement noticed. ③ There was one case of primary resistance against Rifampcin up to 20mc/ ml on J-L medium and this case also showed no sputum conversion. ④ As of side effect of Rifampicin treatment the majory patient tolerates it very well and there was no serious happening except one patient refused to take this drug for severe bodyache and chest discomfort. ⑤ It could be said that Rifampicin is a very effective drug with few side effects and become more popular if the cost were Iess expensive.
