Abstract |
Bacterial cultures of the sputum obtained from 487 patients with respiratory tract infections revealed positive cultures in 217 cases. Of 217 positive cultures, the different strains of bacteria and bacterial sensitivity to antibiotics are evaluated. 1) Of 217 positive cultures, the following stains of bacteria are identified : staphylococci ;n 85 cases(39.2%) , streptococci in 58 cases(26. 7%) , pneumococci in 52 cases(24. 0% ) and Gram negative organisms in 22 cases (1 0. 1 %). 2) The most sensitive antibiotics to staphylococci, streptococci, pneumococci and E . coli are cefazolin, penicillin, penicillin, and kanamycin respectively. |
